Wish I could say I played the original Castlevania

Because now that I hear this, I wanna play it. Good job on this one, even though it's just a WIP.

-Shawn-

P.S.: You've got a long way to catch up, huh? Kinda sucks that you have to do so much to catch up, but I wish you luck. Can't wait to hear what else you got. I also can't wait for that EC Remix you guys are putting together. The more I hear your songs, the more anxious I am to hear that particular one. Lol. Anyways, don't rush yourself, Josh. Keep up the good work!

Lately, my days off of work have consisted of jumping on VGMusic.com and searching for random MIDIs, asking friends and online entities for requests, and randomly getting inspired by other works. While I'll likely be VERY, VERY BUSY the last week of the year trying to cram in the final 10-15 works, I will find a way to get this project finished!

You should definitely play the original Castlevania sometime. I give you fair warning first, though: it's VERY, VERY HARD. Like, CONTROLLER-BREAKING HARD. For a long time, I didn't know how this piece's loop actually resolved because of how often I'd die in the second level. xD

Thanks for your review, Shawn. :D

Lol so whimsical, yet so calming.

I could listen to this all day and feel like I actually WAS underwater. This just has that kind of feel to it. Great job!

paradiddlesjosh responds:

Thanks, Shawn! That's the kind of sound I was going for, even with the jazzy feel. :D

Thanks for your review.

Lovin' it!

Unmastered or not, this is pretty sweet. It's not even through its first playthrough and I already like it. That's what makes it awesome! Can't wait to hear more from you, especially that EC remix you guys have been working hard to do.

Shawn~

P.S.: I'm a little behind on my work, too. I can't seem to do any music as of late, but I'm trying, trying to make the effort.

paradiddlesjosh responds:

I've found that Guitar Pro 6 is helping me get work done, now that I've gotten used to the new interface and effects. I'm still going to use FL Studio for mastering work or for better synth sounds, but most of my WIPs will be .mp3 conversions of my GP6 exports.

Anyway, I hope you find yourself over the wall again soon, Shawn. It's always good to hear your work. :D

Thanks for your review. :)

It sounds good, but not quite what I had in mind.

Trust me, it's a good loop. But instead of a heroic feel, you gave it more of a despair feel. Not to say I don't like that. I haven't heard many despair-sounding loops, so it's almost a first for me. But still, it does need some work. Aside from that, good work. Love to hear more from you~

SFaPiL2 responds:

Yup, it wasn't "heroic" as you asked and it seems not layered enough to stand out. I've noticed how hard it is for me to make a 1 minute loop work. I feel it's like asking me to draw an awesome landscape in a sticky-note-sized paper. The truth is that I tend to waste so much time progressively building-up the song that, in the end, I mainly occupy the time for a "fade in" and "fade out," so to speak.

I haven't had the time to work on it lately, but I'll see what I can do...

Oh my god, I think I just had an eargasm.

The MOMENT I started listening to it, I fell in love with it. It is perfect for a scene in my RPG that I HOPE to continue making where one of the people does die. This is just... too great a song for it.

SFaPiL2 responds:

Thanks Goku ^_^. I'm actually kinda pissed about how I screwed-up the second half of it (that "heart beat" really sucks ass and distracts alot) considering the effort I put in making that flute sound realistic and all (not to mention the strings a la Ennio Morricone... ha! I wish ^_^).

Anyway, after that mistake I promised myself that I'd work on this song one day... when I'll actually learn some music theory and composition. I still need to keep my promise, but I'm getting there.

Thanks for the support!

I didn't even realize it was you, Xayber!

Wow! I was so absorbed in the song, I didn't realize that it was you that made it, Xayber! Now I see where I got the professional help making my Hero's Last Stand remaster.

Onto my review, which is going to be short and sweet: Epic. Phenomenal. That's all there is to it, really.

XayberOptix responds:

Hehe. Yup it's me! :) Thanks for your kind words! How's everything coming with your musical works by the way?

Really, really calming.

I can see this being used as the background music for some town. Actually, this reminds me of when you're in Asgard in Valkyrie Profile 2: Silmeria. It's so very calming and relaxing. I love it. Full score from me, Mihai!

sorohanro responds:

Thanks :)

Dude, this is fitting.

But where it fits is this: I think it fits just after maybe the destruction of the main character's city, or maybe when the main character is out of commission and the rest of the party has to fight in his place, therefore creating a dramatic air about them. It reminds me of a struggle to keep the will to fight. Great loop. :D

SFaPiL2 responds:

Thanks for the review Goku... sorry for the late reply, I only read it today. Yeah, others have said it sounded more like a boss encounter rather than an actual fight and your example might also work (even though I'd think of something more fast paced and dramatic for a "city-destruction" scene: recall Final Fantasy X, Sin's first attack)

Anyway, thanks for having taken the time to write a helpful review ^_^.

Chaotic indeed.

Forgive my rather crappy review. I'm still kinda under a sea of emotions. Anyways, this fits Cloud really well. Nothing much more to say than great remix.

paradiddlesjosh responds:

Thanks for your review, Shawn! :D I'd say more, but I'm still kinda mind-fucked by my own work.

Whoa. That's freaky.

I love all your works, Josh and Choco, but this time, I think the vocals are what primarily make the song attain its essence. This gives it the feeling it was meant to have. The lyrics, being lines from the game, are creepily satisfying, as well as the music to go with it.

Great job, you two. And I can hear the other songs within the song! That's an excellent touch! I can't wait to hear the next one you guys put out, because this is just too awesome.

paradiddlesjosh responds:

Thanks, Shawn! Originally, this was just going to be a mashup of "Who Are You?" and "Who Am I?", but I didn't work on the two parts in the same way, so the mash didn't exactly... well, it didn't sound coherent, that's for sure.

Anyway, this ended up being the better of the two. I still have the "Who Am I?" track that I'll release as a WIP sometime, if anyone's interested.

Thanks for your review, Shawn. :D
