Dude, this kicks so much ass, and the vocals are so easy on the ears, both from you and from VGSongbird! A shame I can't use this for anything myself, otherwise I'd ask if I could. Oh well, I'll just have to settle for sitting back and letting this take me over!

Bad-Man-Incorporated responds:

Super thanks for the review, and listen!! mUch appreciated ...and so sorry for the late response. :(

As usual, Dan, your music kicks so much ass! I can imagine this as the theme to a boss fight where the boss wields the power of, like the song suggests, a phoenix. Then again, I'm just kind of a game nut.

I gotta ask, though. Regarding how some of your previous songs sound, I've been wondering if part of your inspiration came from a band called Nightwish?

DanJohansen responds:

Glad you dig this as well! :D
Nightwish hasn't been a huge inspiration, but their synth work is really epic.
I'm mostly inspired by video game music, such as Ys (uses a lot of 80's type of bell synths and synths in general, FFantasy, Early Tales of soundtracks etc etc. and bands like Symphony X, Stratovarius etc. :)

I gotta say, as I listened to this song, I really couldn't find anything wrong with it. Not that it's perfect, as no work of art is truly perfect, but for me, I found nothing to really criticize. Every note comes together in pure harmony, and the vocals really work to set the atmosphere of the song. I don't know if you're still active, but I hope you don't mind me using this song in a YouTube video. It definitely feels like something I can fight to.

MetalRenard responds:

Hey, thanks for the comment, I appreciate the kind words. I'm still active, posted a new song only a few days ago. Could you send me a PM with more information please? :)

Artifact 19. That's what deserves this song. An ultra-powerful weapon in Thing-Thing Arena 3, capable of disintegrating anyone it's shot at...

Holy shit, yes.

DanJohansen responds:

Haha thanks dude! Ultra powerful weapon in Thing-Thing Arena 3 :D hahaa gotta check that out. Rock on man!

Right from the start, you had me smiling. I've been needing a smile tonight, for I have been bored out of my freaking skull all day! It's melodic, it's just the right amount of heavy, and it really does bring forth feelings of desperation, fortification, determination, and an unwavering resolve to stand against the forces that threaten their land. God. Fucking. Yes.

DanJohansen responds:

Thanks good sir, glad you enjoyed it! :D Always dig seeing your comments man! More to come!

Didn't even need ten seconds to know I was gonna download this shit! It's an absolute auditory delight, but then, what else can we expect from you, Dan? Excellent work here, mate!

DanJohansen responds:

Thanks a ton man! I put a lot of effort into changing my sound a bit for this and the upcoming tracks! A bit more crystal-meth-like lead sound and heavier rythm etc. Glad you dig it!

Not entirely my style, but I can definitely get down on this! Only reason I can't give it a full 5 stars is because it sounds so... basic. Then again, you're new to doing this stuff, right? I can only see even more of an upward rise from this! Keep going with it, man! I'm interested to see where you can take it.

Metaljonus responds:

Thanks dude! Yeah, I'm super new to this lol. Any videos or tutorials or anything that would help build my knowledge with this kind of music? Shoot me a pm! I'm really interested in learning more!

Damn, dude, this is fuckin' awesome! I admit, I never got around to watching Fairy Tail, but I have looked into the show's soundtrack, and goddamn, dude, you nailed this one, I think! I think you should do more of these!

...Starting with Kurogane.

Metaljonus responds:

Thanks dude! Fairy Tail is awesome! And I've never seen or heard of Kurogane. I should look into it!

More melodic metal! The beginning was beautifully done, and then it transitioned into a beautiful mesh of harmony and straight metal. The use of synths in this song were a very welcome addition, and only added to the song's greatness. The transitions are very well done, as far as I can hear with my ONE EAR STILL BEING A DICK... *ahem* Sorry about that.

ANYWAY, I daresay this is on the level of "Edge of the Sword", which I know was made after this, but I still get the same vibe! Yet another to add to my fight music list! Well done, well done!

DanJohansen responds:

The tunes are def in the same vein! Kind of like brother tunes haha, glad you dig this one as well man! :D Rock on!

The main thing that sucked me in was at the very beginning: the vocal ensemble. That was executed very well, and the rest of the song fell into place right after. A calm knight, pushed to his breaking point, then becomes a monster on the battlefield. Even a holy knight has only so much patience, after all! That being said, some parts of this song did kind of turn me off, such as some of the... I guess mangled vocals that sounded like a monster growling, but that's only a very minor thing. Overall, this song is still pretty freakin' sweet!

DanJohansen responds:

Yeah vocals and ways to go about vocals does not favor everyone, people's taste in vocalists vary incredibly, glad you dug the rest of the tune though man!
