Shiverwar's News

Posted by Shiverwar - January 16th, 2014

Hey, Newgrounds people. I have some unfortunate news.

Well, as you know, my work is made using FruityLoops, and as of late, I'd been getting more into remixes, whilst working on some work of my own. Well, now that's over.

As of January 14th, my computer is down, and probably for good. Possible cause: hard disk drive corruption. This means that everything I had on my plate, which consisted of original songs, Pokemon remixes, Mega Man remixes, and the like, are now shot, and gone for good. If I am EVER able to get FruityLoops again, it will be at a later time, but for the time being, all of my music production is on an indefinite hiatus, until such a time where I am able to acquire FruityLoops once more. However, this does not mean I will lose my spirit as a musician. Wherever there's a will, there's a way, and I assure you I WILL find a way. It'll just take a lot of time. However, until further notice, all music production from me will be forced to cease. I very sincerely apologize to all of my fans and supporters for this, but once I am able to make music once more, I will work my fingers to the bone and show you guys that this bear can still make a mean roar. For all you haters out there, enjoy this victory while it lasts, because I will not be down and out forever.

Alright, boys and girls, listen up. SSJ3 here with an update for y'all.

Lately things have not been going so smoothly for me, in life and in music creation. I haven't been able to come up with many ideas for things, and even my remixes have suffered a bit. But fret not! I'm currently working on a batch of mixes that may or may not blow your mind. One such mix is one I've never done before, and one that's incredibly challenging for me.

Anyway, on to some minor things. I've noticed that not many people leave reviews lately. Sure, maybe they don't have time, but sometimes, I'd just like to hear from you guys what my music is like for you? Do you like it? Do you not like it? Are there problem areas that need fixing? Anything I should add or remove? Let me know what you guys think so I can improve on my skills. That's why I ask for reviews and not ratings. I'd like the opinions of the portal lurkers so I can improve my songs and make better stuff for you guys.

Sorry for sounding like a bit of an attention whore there, but that's the truth. Your opinions matter because it could help me improve on my abilities.

Anyway, among the lined up mixes, we've got a few going on. Some are Touhou, some are Final Fantasy, but one such mix is one I never thought I'd do, and one that's currently kicking my ass. Giratina's theme from Pokemon Platinum. Damn, I never thought I'd meet a more challenging song since "Night of Nights" and "U.N. Owen was her?". Be on the lookout for it, because I'm working hard on it. It's actually a challenge a really close friend of mine proposed, and I have to say, pretty fuckin' hard to recreate.

Anyway, that's about it, I hope you guys stay tuned and are psyched about the mix as much as I am doing it. Peace and love, love y'all.

And to the haters and trolls... Where the fuck are you? I need my entertainment back, bitches.

Heya guys! It's SSJ3 here, and I need your help!

See, lately I've been having trouble coming up with new tunes. My two successful original loops posted this year, Oncoming Challenge and Dance of the Blades, have been good, but I need to make something new, but I'm having trouble coming up with shit to make. If you guys could give me some ideas as to what I could do, I would DEEPLY appreciate that.

Post an idea in the comments section, or even give me a link to a picture of something I could use. MAKE IT APPROPRIATE. I'm not doing songs based on nudes, and I most certainly do not want links to sites that have the seizure-inducing pictures with fake screaming behind it. That's just immature and fucking stupid to boot. Those that have supported me in the past, I hope you see this, cause I could sure use some help right about now! Also, added to ideas, I need some ideas on WHAT kind of sounds I should use.

Thank you for your time, and hopefully you guys have some ideas under your belt that I could use!

P.S.: To all you haters out there, keep on hating. As far as I see it, if you love me, I'm in your heart. If you hate me, I'm on your mind. Either way, you're thinking about me. :D

Hey, it's Shawn. Fans, listeners, and haters, listen up.

School has gotten me held back on my music composition. But I'd like to let you all know that I'm still alive. On my end, I'm trying to get my life sorted out again. It's been 10 months today that my family was split apart, and I moved to California away from my loved ones with my mother. I'm still trying to recover from that.

Other than that, I have some new pieces up, namely my take on Motoi Sakuraba's "Confidence in the Domination". Give it a listen, especially if you are a Valkyrie Profile fan!

[EDIT] You may have noticed a few changes to my profile. Yes, I like Valkyrie Profile and Lenneth Valkyrie. So what?

Hey guys. SSJ3 is still alive.

Right now I am currently on spring break, and in Arizona, so I have no access to FruityLoops at the moment, but when I do, I have a feeling that I'm going to be fervently working.

So I decided that to try to bring back my creativity, I should try another redux of Endless Confrontation, once again, starting from scratch. The original and the redux are both great, but both could use more power, and more feeling. So once I get back to California, I'm going to try to rework the song to see how I can make my own submission, one of my best even to this day, even better.

Also, I still want to thank the aforementioned NG users (last news post) for the support they've given me over the years. I don't think I could have gotten very far without it.

Hey guys! SSJ3 here with some news on my latest work.

Lately I've been on a really bad composer's block, so I decided to work on my game in RPG Maker VX, and it was great. Since I STILL lack creativity, I decided maybe instead of remixing Final Fantasy songs all the time, maybe it's time I go back to another old classic.

That's right, it's StarFox 64's turn to shine! I am currently underway in remixing the StarFox 64 main theme, one I have not done before in my time as a composer. Hopefully I can do this right the first time, so I don't have to go in and redo it all over again, haha.

Anyways, thanks to everyone who has been following me these past years, I've gone four years strong, and I look forward to a fifth! Thank you Joshy676, Metaljonus, YourIX, Goukisan, chocosoda, XayberOptix, and all the rest of you who helped inspire me and/or contribute to my work to help me out! I owe you guys one BIG time!

This has been SSJ3-Goku4567, over and out.

P.S. You all lost the game.

Yes, I am happy to announce that, in between school and other tedious things and hard-hitting anger and depression, I, or rather, myself and XayberOptix, have managed to remaster "A Hero's Last Stand"!

Now, understand that I only made certain parts of the horn progression, but that was because the shortened version didn't have a part that I needed. However, the majority of the progression notes as well as the idea for the horns is all XayberOptix's doing, so give the guy a big round of applause. It's thanks to him that "A Hero's Last Stand" is what it is, and I am glad.

So, that's all, so... take a listen sometime! The link is here. Right here. Check it out now.

--Shawn--

PS. Once again, thank you so much, XayberOptix for helping me with this, thank you Joshy676, Metaljonus , and various others for inspiring me to propel myself further into making music, and thank you my fellow listeners who have followed my progress over these tough years. Let's work to make 2011 a rockin' year!

PPS. And thanks to the 0 Bombers for allowing me to humiliate you once again. Though you may try to bring me down, I'm never going to die out.

Yes, so it has been brought to my attention that, although "A Hero's Last Stand" is a great piece in itself, there were some elements missing from it that took away from the feel. XayberOptix suggested that, to increase the heroic feel as well as the quality of the sound itself, that I add horns as sort of the midlevel boost.

So, after listening to his shortened version of the song with the horns added, I decided that it was a phenomenal idea, so now I'm remastering the song, adding the horns and something extra to go with the solo in the middle of the song - a pad. Adding to the horns will be a quieter layer of brass, to give more of the feel that was intended.

As it was my song, I will be taking the majority of the credit, but because the horns were XayberOptix's idea, he will also receive credit for this remastering. Also, be on the lookout for his version of the song sometime in the future.

Yep. Today, on January 1, 2011, I finished my newest piece, "A Hero's Last Stand." I consider this to be one of my best works yet, succeeded only by Endless Confrontation (both the original and the redux). You can listen to this bad boy here, my friends!

I hope you enjoy this new piece by me, and keep on rockin'!

--Shawn--

P.S.: 2011 might be a busy year for me, so you might have to wait a while for a new song to come out after this.

"With his friends fleeing to safety, the hero takes up his sword, standing for one final battle, one that may very well shape the very future of the world. The enemy he faces is the greatest challenge ever faced by anyone on the planet. With his blade and his strength, will the hero vanquish the evil foe that stands before him, or will he fall, leaving his world to crumble under his cold, dead body?"

Yeah, so I FINALLY got a new idea for a song. The title, as this post references to, is "A Hero's Last Stand." As of right now, it is in the construction stage, getting the notes down and everything. After that will be the effects, compression, and other various things to do to a song. This may very well be second to "Endless Confrontation", which some of you heard nearly a year ago.

This idea formed itself out of nowhere, but eventually took this kind of meaning. A hero standing in the middle of a broken city, facing off against his rival in a battle that may decide the fate of the entire planet. What better basis for a song than that?

Also, I am requesting ideas and story plots to help me with my music. If any of you guys has a suggestion, be sure to leave me some feedback, and I'll respond when I can. Right now, I have to prepare to move to California. I'm going to miss my friends dearly, but what can I do about it?

Peace, and keep up all the good work.
